Board of Directors

TAPP President Mary Doherty recently retired from an acquisition leadership position at the US Department of Transportation and currently works part-time for the United Way’s Smart Start Program as well as the Nashua Community College.  She received her bachelor of science in business administration from Auburn University in 1986 and her master of business administration in acquisition and contracting from Western New England College in 1996.

Mary is a loving “dog mom” to two amazing dogs … Chroí and puppy Rylie.  She is active in her community and a supporter of many charities.  Mary serves as the Vice President of The MRP Project providing hope through social support to adults facing hardships and a mentoring program for middle school students in the Greater Hopkinton, MA area.  She is also an active volunteer with Live and Let Live Farm Rescue and Sanctuary and enjoys working with and being around the rescue horses.  She served for many years as the President of FRIENDS of the Humane Society for Greater Nashua (HSFN), an all-volunteer organization that provided volunteer services, raised funds, and increased community interest in HSFN, and currently serves on HSFN’s Education Committee.  She continues to support many fundraising efforts and dog-related activities for other local and national animal rescue organizations.

TAPP Vice President Nicole Allain is a successful entrepreneur and small-business owner. She excels in marketing, and knows what it takes to run small businesses successfully. A loving wife, daughter, and friend, she would do anything for her family and friends.

An animal lover, Nicole recently added an English Bulldog puppy “Vegas,” to her family, and is proud to be his new “mom.”

TAPP Treasurer Karen Knight, a retired small business owner, brings years of experience to TAPP. Not only is she a former kindergarten teacher, but she is also the breeder of champion and grand champion Cocker Spaniels. A long-time member of the AKC, she has served as the treasurer of the oldest breed-specific dog club in the country.

A loving mother and grandmother, Karen loves spending time at the lake with her family and friends. When Karen is not mothering her beautiful litters of Cocker Spaniels, you might find her tending her gorgeous flowers!

TAPP Secretary Kathleen (Kathy) Duggan is a retired employee relations specialist who excels in managing organizational personnel issues, and assists managers and employees with her wise counsel.

Kathy’s outstanding writing skills will be invaluable to TAPP in developing materials to communicate TAPP’s message, and in providing information to volunteers. A wife, mother, and grandmother, she loves gardening, the outdoors and animals.  She was a loving mom to her heart-dog, Bouncer who crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

TAPP Education Director Meaghan Thompson brings a wealth of talent and experience to the Board of Directors for TAPP.  Not only is she a former kindergarten teacher of 10 years, but she is also a Certified Behavioral Consultant and Certified Life Coach working with children, adults and families. She interned with Bev Bos at the Roseville Community Preschool in Roseville, CA while getting her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of New Hampshire. Megg founded The eMpTy Toolbox, an engaging radio program dedicated to assisting all children in reaching emotional wellness. Based on her educational background and extensive “real life” experiences, she has adopted a proactive and strength-based approach to behavior which will be an asset to the TAPP program.
